Rolls-Royce Project Wins RIBA Award20 APR 2005 The new Rolls-Royce complex in Sussex, for which Opl (Office Projects Ltd) were responsible for all commercial interiors including showrooms, offices and assembly plant, has won a major award from RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).RIBA commented that "the attention to detail is stunning and the building is wonderfully inspirational, exuding confidence and pleasure. This is clearly a building worthy of the famous Rolls-Royce marque and equal in quality to the cars produced there." RIBA Awards are given for buildings that have high architectural standards and make a substantial contribution to the local environment. The awards are annual, and have been running continuously since 1966. This year over 500 buildings in the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Union were visited as part of the judging, administered by the RIBA Awards Office alongside the RIBA regional offices, the RSAW, the RIAS and the RSUA. The RIBA Awards 2005 will be announced at a gala dinner at the London Hilton on 17 June 2005. "The RIBA award is excellent news for all of us involved in this outstanding Rolls-Royce project. We were delighted to win the £8.5m contract against heavy domestic and overseas competition and proud to have completed our work within a tight 15 months," commented Opl (Office Projects Ltd) Director Neil Laughton. |
